Dalton Gulsby

Each time I drop off a box of hats, at a clinic, I have a good feeling that some children are going to enjoy picking out a hat. I dropped off some hats today for Medstar Georgetown University Medical Hospital. Today was different than the other times. Today I was dropping hats off in honor of a brave young man that passed away August 10, 2010. Dalton Gulsby was the same age as my son Ryan, who is now 20. As young boys they  played SYA sports against each other on different teams. Dalton went to the elementary school where Jenni, my wife, is the Principal. She was there when Dalton was first diagnosed and saw him begin the battle fighting cancer. When I started Ellie’s Hats I wanted to contact Dalton’s mother, Bari, but I just was not sure when I should. I finally decided that it was time to contact Bari and let her know about Ellie’s Hats and to let her know that Ellie’s Hats would like to start sending hats to Georgetown to honor Dalton. Of course donating hats will not bring Dalton back but my hope is to keep Dalton’s name alive.
