Troy’s Birthday Gifts

We love to hear about young people, like Troy, who are thinking about others. From Troy’s mom “Troy has chosen the past few years to forego birthday gifts and ask for donations for charity. This year, he chose Ellie’s Hats for his charity.  He feels very strongly about organizations that raise money or provide support to people with cancer because he has lost both grandfathers to this disease. He decided to support Ellie’s Hats this year because his brother’s school did a hat drive last year in honor of a classmate who had been diagnosed with cancer and he thought that it was a great idea and would help children feel better.”

Turning 50 isn’t so bad.

Turning 50 is not such a bad thing after all. Jamie Scoggin’s, a friend of ours, was turning 50 and her family wanted to have a party for her. She said that she would only agree if guests were not allowed to bring gifts for her. Instead they could bring a hat or make a donation to Ellie’s Hats. Her guests donated over $600 and 110 hats. I want to thank each one of the guests that donated to Ellie’s Hats

Little Bella

This is Bella.

She is a 7 year old girl who just marked 2 years since she officially went into remission from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia! To celebrate this year, we wanted to do something a little different and do a hat and scarf fundraiser and donate to Ellie’s Hats which helps raise awareness for childhood cancer by donating the hats to infants, children and teens who are undergoing chemotherapy.”

Here is a link to the Facebook event they set up to collect hats. They have collected about 250 hats.

Alina’s 10th birthday party.

Alina decided to ask her friends to donate money towards Ellie’s Hats instead of gifts. This wasn’t the first time that she had asked her friends to donate to a charity instead of gifts. She raised enough money to be able to go to the mall and pick out some hats that kids will love getting. Alina is added to our list of Young All Stars.
