Wednesday, July 29 (South Riding, VA) – Ellie’s Hats, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children with cancer and their families, announced today that the organization reached a $100,000 donation milestone since launching an initiative with Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV). Beginning in 2019, Ellie’s Hats and PSV partnered to help families throughout the DMV region impacted by childhood cancer. Each month, PSV identified five local families in need of financial support and with the help of Ellie’s Hats were able to deliver a $1,000 donation to each family. On Wednesday, July 29th 2020, Ellie’s Hats delivered five checks, pushing the organization to the $100,000 total donations milestone.
“As Ellie’s Hats has grown, we have been fortunate enough to receive generous donations from our community. These donations have enabled us to continue our mission of helping families who are struggling financially. More than anything, this event is a reflection of what is possible when we all come together to support a greater cause.” – Jay Coakley (Founder, Ellie’s Hats)
“Ellie’s Hats keeps our kids and their families covered, from the hats on their heads to the financial support in their homes. We are appreciative to have their support,” said Dr. Christopher Lawlor, PSV Philanthropy Chair and Medical Director of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. “Ellie’s Hats understands the financial impact childhood cancer can have on families. They are always there with support.”
