Our Hero Bag Program is going strong! 💪

Because of your donations, we're able to put bags of goodies together for newly diagnosed pediatric cancer patients at Inova Children's Hospital.

The items in the bag are all recommended by the hospital's Child Life Team, and are always a big hit with the kids and their families.

It's always the little things that can make a BIG difference, especially to those going through a difficult time.

On February 5th, 2019, at the age of 11, Reed was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his right femur.

But now, after 9 months of chemotherapy and 5 surgeries to his leg, he's been cancer-free for 3 1/2 years. 💛

For the last two years, Reed's big goal was to make his high school baseball team, but it wasn't going to be easy.

Recovery from his recent surgery was way more complicated and intense than his family imagined. But Reed was determined to build back his strength, speed, and endurance.

He worked out every day — lifting in his garage, running in the neighborhood, and doing sprints up the neighborhood “sledding hill." And we're proud to say his hard work paid off. 😊

Last week he was selected to be on the Chantilly High School JV Baseball Team!!! ⚾️

He may have “beaten” cancer, but Reed is reminded every day of the effects it's had on his body and mind. He will always be at a physical disadvantage because of the nature of his leg reconstruction. But what Reed lacks in physical ability, he makes up for in tenacity and fortitude.

CONGRATULATIONS, Reed! We can't wait to see you play, buddy! And GO CHARGERS! 💜
