Spring is my favorite time of year. I always looked forward to the soccer season starting up and coaching Ryan and Erin. Like many people I was out today with the weather feeling like it was spring. I went to Dicks Sporting Goods to buy some hats, of course. It was very crowded with many parents with their children buying some of the equipment for the spring sports that they would be playing soon. The kids looked so excited with their new bats, soccer balls, lacrosse sticks…….All I could think about was all of the children like Mathias that are not going to get to play spring sports, like so many of their friends. Like Mathias and Ellie and all of the other children with cancer they will be missing out on one of the greatest parts of childhood, playing sports. The next time that you are out with your children at a sporting goods store or at a soccer field take a moment and think about all of the children that are in a hospital or at home and unable to play.
